A little blog about the art and interests of Catherine (me) probably never updated (if years of half full journals are any testament!)

Busy, Busy, Busy
Lately I've been so busy, what with 3 projects on the go and a trip up to London!! Went to see another Uni, and I really liked it so another positive there. I'm going to put up some more photos of work when I get a minute with my BRAND NEW CAMERA!! (I must have been the only art student Without one!) I've also been writing the dreaded personal statement so this lovely site has been a little neglected. Never fear though. I WILL post more!

Crits, New projects, Experimenting and Snow
Today we had a crit on the Me, Myself and I project (actually called Which Tribe are you?) and from this I have decided to continue with the project...
Using my (very limited) photoshop skills I managed to highlight certain post-it notes. I think it's still a bit scary looking, but I've managed to look past that and see the humour. I think this is also a reflection on me as I don't often care what I look like, just as long as I'm happy and having fun. I think I'm leaning toward the 'Happy' image as that word describes me best and the positioning is a little bit to the side... just like me!
We also got a new project today which I loved! It's called Idioms... I have so many ideas buzzing around my head!!
And finally it snowed a bit today. I must be the only person in the world who doesn't love snow.

Me, Myself and I
Today I had a great taster day at a university for graphic design. We did a one day project and I really enjoyed it; the challenge of working with different people, having such a short schedule and coming up with such a range of ideas. I loved it!
I've also nearly finished the Me, Myself and I short project in my foundation;

I wanted to show myself, my personality and not just my actual face. Thats why I've chosen to 'make' myself out of post-it notes and stick it onto my actual face. I used inspiration from Gustave Courbet, who was one of, if not the, first artists to produce a self portrait that showed his personality and not just his physical features.

Never use ink
unless you want to:
a) dye your hands purple
b) dye spots onto your favourite cream dress (perhaps this should be.... never wear your favourite cream dress when using ink)
c) Get ink on your bag then transferred onto your back
d) wait 4 days for it to dry
On a happier note, I found out that nail varnish removes ink from hands quite well. I'm doing a quick project on myself (ahhhh!!) So I've decided to draw my face on sticky notes, write on them then stick them to my face and take a photo. I'll keep you updated!

First Post
So here's my first blog, my first entry and....
Panic! what do I write? Its always the same; blank books. blank page. I never thought I'd get this with a web page. I mean its not all white, there's already writing and colour and... stuff here. But there you go, perhaps technology is not so different to 'real life' after all.
A little bit about me is in order I suppose....
Name: Catherine (pretty obvious I know!)
Occupation: Student
I'm studying Art and Design at University College Falmouth at the moment. I want to specialise in Graphic design next year.
So there's your little bit, I'd rather this be about my art and interests rather than personal life.
